Assalamu alaikum warahmathullahi wabarakathuhu

Usually we send  appeals from  orphans / widows/those needing  kidney transplant/ heart surgery etc.

But then we do receive many many appeals from old people who have no support whatsoever, lives sometimes looking after disabled children or even grandchildren when their own children have passed away.

We forward appeals regarding little children for  that is what receives priority among the donors. But what about these people who are at the mercy of the world which doesn’t even have a second look at  them? the world which thinks it is not necessary to  care for them  or help them?  Don’t they deserve some solace at their  ripe old age?

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As: Our Beloved  Prophet (sal)  said: Those who do not show mercy to our young ones and do not realize the right of our elders are not from us (Sunan Abu Dawud).

Let me give you a few examples we have received  appeals from:

-the  poor lady, whose husband abandoned  her and has a 28 year old mentally disturbed son, earning by working in estates

-97 year old lady living with her widowed  daughter who earns by selling  clothes door to door

-57 year old lady whose hand was broken in an accident and is looking after a  son who is mentally  disturbed and his two children.

-58 year old widow who is educating  her two children with much difficulty and living in a house half built.

-70 year old feeble lady with no one to look after her since her son abandoned her

-60 year old woman who has no one to help her and is sick

-54 year old widow with a young daughter  with both kidneys damaged and cannot even stand a surgery – no help at all.

The list  goes on and on.

yes, Islamically speaking their relatives  should do something about them but if they don’t? or if they have no relative at all? shouldn’t we, as a responsible society,  do something to help  them?

Can we at least give them each  Rs.2500 a month so that they can eat at least a single meal a day?

Ramazan is approaching. All these cases are certainly  eligible for  zakath.

May Allah give you  a kind heart to help them and give you much more so that you can spend in His way more.

A donor sponsors 2 elderly women, for each 3000 per month.

From another donor, We received Rs.1500/-

Jazakallahu Khairan. May Allah bless them & their families!
